Explore Open Pit Nam Salu in East Belitung, The Ex-Open Tin Mining Which Became Tourist Destination

One of the ex-mining location that becomes tourist attraction until now is Open Pit Nam Salu.

According to the official website of Namsalugeosite, this tourist destination was the first open pit mine in Indonesia and even in Southeast Asia

This spot offers the beautiful nature landscape from the ex-mining which is right in the middle, there is a greenish lake.

There is a tunnel between the rocks which is located not far from the lake.

This geosite area is located in Senyubuk Village, Kelapa Kampit Subdistrict of East Belitung Regency.

It is 43,3 kilometers away from H AS Hanandjoeddin Tanjungpandan Belitung Airport. It takes approximately an hour drive.

When arriving at the parking lot of Open Pit Nam Salu, the management provide the toilet.

The management charge entrance ticket for the visitor. The ticket which is includes the safety equipment like helmet and vest, would make the trip to this place like being in an active mining area.

The Open Pit Nam Salu opens from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. It is suggested to come to this place at the morning or afternoon when the sun is not so brigth.

From the parking lot, the tourist can walk around 500 meters. But they have another option.

For the road are uneven, the tourist could ride a trail bike to Open Pit Nam Salu area.

Arriving at this area when the weather is sunny, the pools of water that form the lake will appear green.

From the distance you can see the hill. The ex-mining which is also looks like terraced, making an interesting back ground to capture the moment.

To go to the tunnel, the tourist still have to walk.
